Mint Julep

Mint Julep was first created in the 18th century, and conjures up images of lounging in the sunshade and sipping long cool drinks.

Ingredients

  • 50ml Amber Glen Blended Scotch Whisky
  • 1 teaspoon sugar or 2 sugar cubes
  • 1 teaspoon of water
  • 6 mint leaves
  • 1 sprig of mint
  • cracked ice
Measures are given as a guideline.

Instructions

Add the sugar water in the bottom of a tall glass or Amber Glen nosing goblet and briskly mix them together to form a sugar syrup.  Chop and add the mint leaves to the sugar syrup and muddle together with the back of a teaspoon.  Half fill the glass with cracked ice and give it a good stir.  Add the Amber Glen Blended Scotch and stir lightly with the stem of the teaspoon.  Add ice to top of glass, swirl with a straw and place a sprig of mint in the glass to decorate.  Adjust the quantity of mint to taste.
